Newsweek magazine has said that Gardner Taylor is one of the twelve greatest preachers in the English-speaking world. He is considered by many to be the greatest living African American preacher. The recipient of over 100 honorary degrees, he served as pastor of Concord Baptist Church in Brooklyn for forty-two years. He is the author of the six volume series, The Words of Gardner Taylor (Judson Press).  Since retiring in 1990, he has maintained an active travel and speaking schedule. In 2000, he received The Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award, recognizing exceptional meritorious service.

Edward Taylor, Senior Pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of San Jose is a native of Ville Platte, LA. He has served churches in Louisiana, New Jersey, and New York. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana College and his Master of Divinity degree from New Brunswick Theological Seminary. Currently, he is a Resident Graduate at Harvard University Divinity School. Pastor Taylor’s other studies include Princeton Theological Seminary, University of London - Birbeck College, and The University of Leiden, The Netherlands.
